Vegan restaurants are popping up all over Vancouver, and one of my favourite new additions is Virtuous Pie! All vegan pizza, salads and ice cream. They make their own vegan cheeses in house, so none of that store bought chemical crap that doesn’t even taste like cheese… but that’s another blog entry. So far, I’ve tried two pizzas, the Stranger Wings (which is buffalo cauliflower, crispy onions, scallions and a vegan bleu cheese sauce)
and their Holiday Special (miso gravy, cranberry walnut stuffing, potato cream and fresh chives) which is sadly no longer available, but was the bomb, and hopefully will be back next holiday season.
They are not only doing vegan pizza right, they are doing pizza in general right. Super crispy, thin crust, and delicious toppings. Note: its a small spot, so either be prepared to wait for one of their family-style tables during peak times, or order to-go.
Address: 583 Main Street (just a couple blocks from Main St Skytrain station)
Cost: Pizzas are $12, Salads $10 and Ice Cream is just $5!
Website: virtuouspie.com (they do delivery and you can call ahead for pick up!)
Top Dish: The Stranger Wings Pizza is an absolute must try!
Vegan? Virtuous Pie is completely vegan.
Let me know if you try it, or if you’ve already tried it and what you thought in the comments!
